Introduction to Reiki and Energy Healing
Energy is everywhere. It is the subtle sea of life-force, ever-present, surrounding and interpenetrating us and everything. Reiki is one specific energetic frequency which can be aligned with, tuned into, and channeled. Using Reiki accelerates the body’s natural healing processes, and opens up the energy system to more subtle perceptions.

Reiki Level One
In Reiki level I, students receive a first degree “attunement” to the Reiki Frequency, opening up their internal healing channel, and aligning them with this specific vibration of healing energy. We will also cover basic techniques for self-healing, and the history and origin of Reiki from ancient Tibet, through Japan, to its modern use and teaching throughout the world.

Reiki Level Two
(Pre-req. level I) Here students receive advanced information on how to use Reiki as a practitioner working on others. This includes the first 3 sacred symbols which are used for healing over great distances and emotional healing. We also address how to ground and self-care so that we can become clear channels for this healing energy, holding neutral and aligning with the client’s own highest good. In this class, students have an opportunity to hone in on their own super-sensory perceptions.

Reiki Level Three/Master Degree
(Pre-req. level I & II) In Reiki level III, students become certified as Reiki Masters, and receive the 4th and final sacred symbol, the Reiki master frequency symbol. Students who pass this class are qualified to teach Reiki and attune others. Due to Chelsea’s extensive background in earth-energy healing, this class uniquely focuses on how to remain grounded and present while channeling this high vibration of energy. Reiki is a wonderful and accessible way to begin, or continue, your journey as a healer, steward, and light worker.

About the teacher
Chelsea Ackerman has been a student and practitioner of energy healing since 2000, when she took Reiki level I from Eileen Dey at Seattle Holistic Center. She graduated from Northwest School of Healing’s 4 year energy-work program in 2005, where she studied under Alima P. Hamilton, PhD. She has been a dean (assistant teacher), and student of the Advanced Training Program at NWSH ever since. She is also a Reverend, and certified Hypnotherapist.

What is energy?

Energy is everywhere. It is the subtle sea of life-force, ever-present, surrounding and interpenetrating us and everything.

What is Reiki?

Reiki is one specific energetic frequency which can be aligned with, tuned into, and channeled. It is a benevolent celestial consciousness, which we can use for help and healing.

What is Earth-Energy?

Earth Energy is also channeled, similarly to reiki. The differences are that reiki is a celestial energy, which comes in through the crown of the head, and earth energy comes from the core of the earth, and in through the feet. Both flow through the practitioner, out the hands, to the client, who is free to utilize as much or as little of these energies as he or she wants to. At Rainbird Healing Arts, Chelsea uses a unique combination of Reiki and Earth-Energy for optimum healing on all levels: physically, spiritually, emotionally, and mentally.

Other types of energy work:

There are many other types of energy being used for healing, each with an individual signature, and a unique vibration.

How can Energy-Work and Reiki specifically benefit therapists working in other modalities?

1. By grounding, spinning chakras, balancing, and moving energy through, instead of depleting one’s own reserves, practitioners are able to do more effective, deeper work, with far less toll taken on the body. By utilizing the self as a channel for energy, the practice of helping others becomes a charging and invigorating experience, cultivating personal growth, with the opportunity to make one’s work sacred.
2. The client will feel tremendous benefit from the extra charge, and increased safety as you more easily maintain firm, healthy energetic boundaries.
3. Becoming certified as a Reiki Master is a simple and accessible way to become a continuing ed instructor for massage therapists, to teach and add another dimension to your practice.

Brief overview of the human energy field.

1. Chakras: The energetic vortexes which pull energy into the physical body, charging the vertical power current, which is like a central battery running along the spine.
2. Aura: Your own personal bubble, which contains your energy and you, and serves as a boundary to the universal sea of energy all around you.
3. Hara line: The central laser-like line connecting the core of the earth to the heavens above, through you.

How is the human energy system impacted?

By life: Everything impacts our energy fields:

• Diet,
• Emotional events
• The environment
• Genetics
• Activity
• Beliefs
• Ideas
• Actions
• The more something is repeated, the more impact it has.

This subtle body is easily adjusted, and people often see great results in their lives soon after beginning to recieve energy-therapy, and even more so from studying this work.

Why mature the personality?

Energetic skill alone does not serve us if our negative or stagnant patterns are still running our lives. Energy work will create strength in the energy field, and therefore it’s really important to do personal growth work to ensure our conscious choices get stronger, and not our unconscious negative intentions.

How does energetic healing work?

This field is up-and-coming, and as vast as the human imagination. There’s no limit to where we can go from here.

Energy-work usually refers to the work of a practitioner, or “healer”, to channel energy to be utilized by a client.

It also refers to the process of self-healing and personal-growth-work, creating ever increasing strength and flexibility in the energetic system, mind, and body, through a variety of practices, working on all levels: energetic, psychological, spiritual, physical, and emotional.

How to Get Started:

Many people like to start with a Reiki I Workshop, or Healing Hands I Workshop.

In Reiki level I, the students are “attuned” to the Reiki Frequency, much like the buttons on your car stereo can be set to recall certain stations. We also cover specific techniques for self-healing, and the history and origin of Reiki, from ancient Tibet, through Japan, to it’s modern use and teaching throughout the world.

In Healing Hands I Workshop, we briefly overview the material which is covered in the first year of the 4-year energy healing program at Northwest School of Healing. We cover an introduction to the chakras, auric field, hara line, defences, masks, core energetics, self-care, grounding, centering, aligning, setting intentions, boundaries,  personality work, energy configurations, and more! (This is an introduction and prerequisite for attending the NWSH 4-year program, but it also stands alone to benefit anyone, at any level.)
